and "get rid of the left overs" at Crab Island!
The 2009 Fifth Annual Destin Mako Owners was a huge success! Attendance was up 30% this year and was a record breaking event in attendance.
For those of you that missed it, one of our members has put together a great video with images from this year's tournament.
Of course a tournment of this caliber could not come together without the help of our great sponsors:
Bass Pro Shops
Capt. Harry's Fishing Supply
West Marine
MD Lures
Todd's Lures and Rigs
Blue Lizard Sunscreen
Raybo Marine, NY
SeaDek Non Skid Marine Traction
Preston Hood Chevrolet, Fort Walton Beach, FL and Biloxi, MS
Lakeshore Family Dentistry, Slidell, LA
Quality Inn Bayside, Fort Walton Beach
And a HUGE thank you to Allan at the Destin Trophy Shop for making our trophies at the last minute!!!!
The Funament has been based out of the Quality Inn in Fort Walton Beach, FL for the last five years and is situated on the Intercoastal waterway next to a public boat
ramp, the Quality Inn has a dock, pool and spacious grounds. The first two years the Awards dinner was held out back under the pavillion
next to the dock. Begining in 2007, we moved into the banquet room and have the dinner catered. This year we are changing the format
back to the "early" days with an afternoon meal and awards ceremony. We hope that this change allows more people the opporuntiy to hang
out together - and should definitely be easier on the young kids! Last year was a great time by all and this year looks to be even better!
ECMako is a club promoting safe and fun boating which I started in conjunction with the first Mako Funament four years ago.
My goal was to re-create the fun and exciting times that I remember as a kid growing up fishing the Mako Owners Tournaments.
The club is looking for members, so if you are interested in joining please send an email to "ecmako at gmail dot com".
